Robotic Thoracic Surgery-A new weapon to fight lung cancer and chest diseases
We have started a unique key hole robotic thoracic surgery programme. This is first of its kind in Eastern India. The nearest robotic thoracic surgery centre away from this hospital for the Calcutta is in Delhi and Hyderabad . Within a span of week our Robotic Cardio thoracic surgery team led by Prof. Amitabha Chakrabarti has successfully operated on 3 patients suffering from cavitary disease of lung, tumour inside chest and on another lady suffering from giant bulla of lung. All these could have killed the patients.Conventional chest surgery requires 20-25 cm long cut mark and long stay in hospital, pain is also another problem.Thanks to the development and availability of robotic thoracic surgery in this hospital , this has brought a ray of hope to the citizens of kolkata and eastern India. Now kolkata is at par with all internationally acclaimed thoracic centres
This is a historical newspaper document of Minimal access thoracic surgery in Kolkata. The first VATS or Key hole lobectomy done in kolkata on 2017. Prof (Dr) Amitabha Chakrabarti as Chief surgeon and his team matesDr Manujesh Bandyopadhyay and Dr G Anton performed Left upper lobe of lung resection in a lung cancer patient. It was the first of it’s kind done in eastern India.

Ananda bazar digital 1st june Robotic Cardio Thoracic Operation: রোবট দিয়ে ফুসফুস আর বুকের জটিল অস্ত্রোপচার শহরের হাসপাতালে ‘দ্য ভিঞ্চি’ নামক রোবটের হাতে বুকের ভিতরের টিউমার এবং ফুসফুসে থাকা গহ্বরের সফল অস্ত্রোপচার হল কলকাতায়। নিজস্ব সংবাদদাতা কলকাতা ৩১ মে ২০২২ ২১:০৫ এ বার শহরের এক বেসরকারি হাসপাতালে কার্ডিওথোরাসিক অস্ত্রোপচার হল যন্ত্রমানবের হাত দিয়ে। সাধারণ অস্ত্রোপচার থেকে স্ত্রী-রোগ সংক্রান্ত অস্ত্রোপচারের ক্ষেত্রে রোবটের ব্যবহার বেড়েছে রাজ্যে। এ বার শহরের এক বেসরকারি হাসপাতালে কার্ডিওথোরাসিক অস্ত্রোপচার হল যন্ত্রমানবের হাত দিয়ে। দ্য ভিঞ্চি নামে রোবটের সাহায্যে করা হয় অস্ত্রোপচার। পূর্ব ভারতে কার্ডিও থোরাসিক অস্ত্রোপচারে রোবটের ব্যবহার এই প্রথম বলে দাবি করেন চিকিৎসক অমিতাভ চক্রবর্তী। আপাতত দুই রোগী স্থিতিশীল বয়েছেন বলে জানান তিনি। সোমবার বাইপাসের ধারে বেসরকারি হাসপাতালে রোবটের সাহায্যে ফুসফুস এবং বুকের ভিতরে টিউমারের অস্ত্রোপচার করা হয় দুই রোগীর। বেশ কয়েক বছর ধরে ভুগতে থাকা ফুসফুসের সমস্যা নিয়ে চিকিৎসার জন্য কলকাতায় আসেন বছর ৫৭-এর বিহারের এক বাসিন্দা। কাশির সঙ্গে মুখ দিয়ে রক্তপাত হচ্ছিল ওই রোগীর। পরীক্ষা করতে দেখা যায় ফুসফসে প্রায় পাঁচ সেন্টিমিটার গহ্বর হয়ে গিয়েছে ওই রোগীর। চিকিৎসকের মতে, সময় মতো অস্ত্রোপচার না করলে অতিরিক্ত রক্তপাতের ফলে প্রাণহানিরও আশঙ্কা উড়িয়ে দেওয়া যায় না এই সব ক্ষেত্রে। দ্বিতীয় রোগীর বাড়ি উত্তরবঙ্গে। বছর ৩৯-এর এই ব্যক্তি বুকে ব্যথা এবং শ্বাসকষ্টে ভুগছিলেন। সঙ্গে কাশির সঙ্গে রক্তপাতের সমস্যাও ছিল। শারীরিক পরীক্ষায় দেখা যায় বুকের ভিতর বাড়ছে প্রায় ছয় সেন্টিমিটারের এক টিউমার। লিচু খেতে গিয়ে শ্বাসনালীতে বীজ, সফল অস্ত্রোপচার কলকাতার হাসপাতালে আরও পড়ুন হাতে ২ কেজির টিউমার অস্ত্রোপচার করে সুস্থ হলেন তরুণী এই দুই রোগীর ক্ষেত্রেই সাধারণ অস্ত্রোপচারে বেশি কাটা ছেঁড়া করতে হত বলে জানান চিকিৎসক। কিন্তু এ ক্ষেত্রে তিন থেকে চারটি ছিদ্র করা হয়। সেই ছিদ্র দিয়ে নির্দিষ্ট স্থানে পৌঁছে যায় রোবটের হাত। চার ঘণ্টার মধ্যে সম্পন্ন হয় ফুসফুসের অস্ত্রোপচার। বাদ দেওয়া হয় ফুসফুসের একাংশ। অন্যদিকে বুকের ভিতর টিউমারের অস্ত্রোপচারে সময় লাগে দু’ঘণ্টা। অমিতাভ জানান, এই ধরনের অস্ত্রপচারের পর সাধারণত রোগীদের ১০ থেকে ১২দিন হাসপাতালে পর্যবেক্ষণে রাখা হয়। তারপর শারীরিক অবস্থা দেখে ছুটির সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়। তবে এঁদের ক্ষেত্রে এত দিন হাসপাতালে থাকার দরকার হবে না বলেই মনে করছেন তিনি। সব ঠিক থাকলে চলতি সপ্তাহেই দুই রোগীকে ছুটি দেওয়া হতে পারে। ভিনরাজ্যে রোবটিক সার্জারির পরিধি বেড়েছে, সেই তুলনায় এ রাজ্যে চিকিৎসায় রোবটের ব্যবহার কিছুটা পিছিয়ে। এ নিয়ে অমিতাভ বলেন,‘‘থোরাসিক সার্জিরিতে রোবটের ব্যবহার শুরু হল রাজ্যে, ভবিষ্যতে আরও অস্ত্রোপচার হবে। এতে মানুষের যেমন কষ্ট কমবে। তেমন দেশের যে সব জায়গা চিকিৎসায় রোবট ব্যবহারে এগিয়ে আছে বলা হয়, সেই সারিতে জায়গা করে নেবে আমাদের রাজ্যও।
